No decision yet to hand over Imran Farooq case suspects to UK

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry said on Wednesday no decision had been taken as yet to hand over suspects in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case to the United Kingdom.
In a statement, a spokesman for the interior ministry said the ministry would do only what was permissible under the law.
He ruled out handing over the three accused in the case to the UK under any administrative or government decision.

A Scotland Yard team had been given access to all the three accused and the team had concluded investigations inside Pakistan this month.
Dr Imran Farooq, a founding member of the MQM, was murdered outside his house in London in 2010. The accused in the custody of Pakistani authorities include one of the two suspected killers who left London for Sri Lanka on his way to Pakistan hours after the murder.
Among the other two is a man suspected to have negotiated with the killers before arranging their meetings with a Karachi-based businessman who facilitated their admission to a college in UK, visas and tickets besides providing finances for their stay in the UK. The businessman, Moazzam Ali, is also under the custody of Pakistani authorities.

I am tired of these reports about IF's murder suspects. Enough with these shenanigans. Frankly it is hard to make sense as to what the government is thinking here. Let us know when the masterminds are brought to justice.

In the name of Justice to Mr. Imran Farooq's family, please do the right thing. Justice must be done. Scotland Yard will never punish unless they have foolproof evidence in convicting the culprits. At least put one case to its Logical Conclusion.

If they have not done anything wrong, why not give them to UK authority. I am sure they will have good lawyers to represent in UK ... offcourse free.

If they are implicated in the murder of a Paksitani national, either at home or abroad, shouldn't they be prosecuted and punished in Pakistan first??

The victim is dead and law enforcement is finding proof. It simply encourages individuals to take the law in his/ her own hand. Please, take it to the logical conclusion or resign from the seat.

These 3 arrest long time ago, never produced in court and unlawful in custody, (one died there). They are suspects but not guilty, they should prosecuted or punished. If you have proof. Why they r unlawful custody.

If we really want to stand amongst the nations as a sovereign state we must look towards our interests first. There has been too much one way traffic in the past with us cooperating in all forms with other states while getting negative response un return. Recently the UAE did not hand over Uzair Baluch despite credible evidence and a red warrens against him. Unless people believe that we are no more a banana state no one will respect our law.

Our track record speak volume as we could not solve the BB case who was killed 8 years back in Pakistan and could not find the real killer then how come we expect that we may be of any assistance to UK government.The news is for the purpose of confusing people back home and diverting attention from corruption and corruption only.Since Imran Farooq murder and periodical investigation updates we have lost more than Rs 10000 billion in mega corruption average Rs 2000 billion annually.

The politicians are very clever,they have made no extradition agreement with the UK as they know they can jump on a plane and cannot be brought back by law if they commit any offence.By law they cannot be given to the UK and they can easily get a court order to this effect. the victim was a dual national, the alleged murders are Pakistani citizens so why aren't they tried in the ATC.Giving them to UK can benefit in one way that hopefully the other conspirators might be brought to justice, the masterminds.

Please understand the law, they are Pakistani national and the government cannot hand them over to any one. They have to be convicted and tried in Pakistan.... if some one can prove the case.

Hand them over! I trust the Brit system of justice more than our own. Stop with conspiracy theories of everyone trying to destroy Pak. It has almost become a national past-time--a way of shirking responsibility by blaming others. Unless we recognize and accept our own faults, we will never, ever, fix anything.
