KARACHI: Hosts Aga Khan University (AKU) set up a final against Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) in the 13th AKU Inter-University Football Tournament with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Hamdard University on Wednesday.

PNEC, meanwhile, advanced to Friday’s final after a nerve-wracking 5-4 penalty shootout win over Institute of Business Administration (IBA) after their semi-final ended in a 2-2 draw.

AKU took just seven minutes to break the deadlock against Hamdard University when Armaghan Munir scored. Usman Mirza doubled their advantage in the 24th before Omar Yacob put the seal on their victory in the 41st.

PNEC took the lead against IBA when Abdullah Shams fired home in the 21st but goals by Sami Irfan and Ramiz Rizvi in the space of 10 minutes put IBA 2-1 up before Mohammad Bashar took the game to a shootout when he scored in the 57th.—Sports Reporter
