LAHORE: Stage comedian Iftikhar Ahmad Thakur has approached the Lahore High Court for a complete ban on exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan.

Filed through Advocate Ishtiaq Ahmad Chaudhry, Mr Thakur states in his petition that on Aug 28, 2015 India committed the “bloodiest violation” of ceasefire that left eight Pakistanis dead, 47 injured, including 24 women and 11 children.

He says it is quite sad that on one hand the nation was receiving dead bodies and on the other the Pakistani authorities are allowing promotion of Indian culture and movies.

The artist pleads that the exhibition/promotion of Indian films in Pakistan is in conflict with articles 2, 28, 31 and 37 of the Constitution.

Therefore, he says, the court should put a permanent ban on the exhibition of Indian movies in Pakistan.
