BEIJING: President Mamnoon Hussain arrived here on Tuesday on a four-day official visit where he will meet the country’s leadership and attend an event related to China’s victory in the World War II.

The president was received at the Beijing International Airport by China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong and high officials of the Chinese government. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid and senior officials of the embassy were also present.

The president was accompanied by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon Hussain.

During his stay in Beijing, the president will attend a military parade commemorating China’s 70th anniversary of victory against Japanese forces in the World War II.

He will hold meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and discuss issues of mutual interest. He will also attend a dinner to be hosted by President Xi in honour of heads of state and governments.

The president will also meet China’s Executive Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, and will also address academicians and representatives of think-tanks at a luncheon to be hosted by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

President Mamnoon will interact with the Chinese media and highlight the importance of China-Pakistan bilateral relations.

PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES: Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Rashad Mahmood reached China on Tuesday.

He is visiting the friendly country to witness the military parade being held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of victory of China in the Second World War against Japan.

Meanwhile, a contingent of defence forces of Pakistan is also visiting the friendly country to participate in the military parade being organised for the first time.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan armed forces’ contingent comprising 75 personnel of the army, navy and air force is already in China to participate in the parade.

The contingent of Pakistan is the largest among 17 nations who have been invited to participate in the historic event.
