NA-122 decision

Published September 2, 2015

ELECTION Tribunal Judge Kazim Ali Malik announced his decision in the case of NA-122, de-seating Sirdar Ayaz Sadiq. This has triggered a lot of discussion as expected on TV talk shows.

What is surprising is that PML-N ministers in the federal and Punjab cabinets have started directly accusing the judge, declaring the judgement as well as the judge to be biased.

Rana Sanaullah has even accused him of carrying a grudge against his party for long and that the judge wanted a ticket for his son for contesting an election on the platform of the party from Khushab.

It appears to be a simple case of contempt of court since a tribunal also carries the same status as that of a court.

The PML-N has the option to challenge the decision of the tribunal in the Supreme Court. They should not have given such statements.
