TAXILA: A ghee mill, three ice cream factories and two hotels were sealed in various parts of Hassanabdal for poor hygiene as district health authorities have launched a crackdown on violators of Food Act.

A team led by district sanitary in-charge Rana Abdullah along with assistant commissioner Syeda Rimla Ali during raids found a ghee mill located on G.T. Road for producing hazardous ghee.

During a visit to the manufacturing plant, dead insects including lizards were found from main water tank. The termed the hygienic condition around the plant very poor. Moreover, three local ice cream manufacturing units located in different parts of the city were sealed on a similar ground while kitchens of the two hotels were found very dirty giving a foul smell.

Talking to newsmen, assistant commissioner Syeda Rimla Ali said that the drive against the violators of the Food Act would continue.
