Karachi to host School Games next month: SOA

KARACHI: School Games 2015 will be held in Karachi during September while the Beach Games will be organised in the metropolis in the month of October, the executive committee of the Sindh Olympic Association decided here in a meeting recently.

Held under the chairmanship of Syed Zahid Ali Rizvi at the SOA Karachi office, the meeting was a well-attended affair with almost all the members and office-bearers present.

For the Beach Games in October, the committee decided that some ten events will be contested between the regional teams with each region comprising fifty sportspersons.

A report of sports activities during the year was presented by SOA secretary Mudassar Arain and was approved by the house. The house also appreciated the efforts of Sindh Ombudsman on the issue of of grant in aid for sports associations.

It was also decided that the Karachi Olympic Association will organise an athletic relay race on Aug 31 at the PSB Coaching Centre while the Sindh Athletics Association will hold a World Athletics Day on Sept 12.

Besides, all provincial and Olympic associations will celebrate the Defence Day by conducting sports events. It was also decided that a small SOA delegation will meet Provincial Sports Minister Fayaz Ali Butt in the next week for the promotion of sports in Sindh.
