SUKKUR: Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial has said that police try their best to execute court orders be it the one regarding arrest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain.

He was commenting on the warrants issued by a court for the arrest of the MQM chief in a case in which he had recently been declared absconder.

Mr Sial, who was speaking to the media during his visit to the Sukkur barrage on Sunday, said that as a result of the ongoing Rangers-led operation in Karachi, terrorist activities and crimes including targeted killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom had decreased by 95 per cent.

He said that the businessmen community in Karachi were fully satisfied with the progress of the operation as they were no more getting extortion slips and threats. He said police were playing a commendable role in the joint operation.

“We want to create an atmosphere where no businessman or trader is forced to pay extortion money to anybody,” he said, adding that the police and paramilitary troops were putting in their best efforts in this regard.

People would now hopefully get speedy justice at their doorsteps, he added.

In replying to a question about alleged “enforced disappearance” of senior journalist from Sukkur, Syed Shahid Ali, the minister said that a two-member committee would be formed by the DIG concerned on his return from leave to sort out the issue.
