I READ in an Indian newspaper that a distribution company (Discom) will have to pay the penalties for all unscheduled power cuts in New Delhi.

The government added that the penalties have to be paid suo motu by Discom by way of adjustments against the future electricity bills within 90 days.

I think the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority should assess if they too should introduce such penalties. I am sure that all the paying customers of K-Electric will be happy with this arrangement.
