RAWALPINDI: A woman was allegedly strangled by her husband in Rawat area while another woman attempted suicide by taking poisonous pills in Chah Sultan area, police said on Friday.

Rubina Shaheen, 52, was killed over a domestic dispute, police said adding that the accused was yet to be arrested.

Saeed Ahmed, younger brother of the deceased woman told the police that his sister was married 22 year ago and had been residing in Rawat area.

On Thursday night, Rubina telephoned her brother Sajid that her husband was torturing her and she expressed fear for her life.

Later, in the morning he was informed that his sister was murdered by her husband, he said.

Another woman attempted suicide by taking poison in Chah Sultan on Thursday night. She was removed to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where she was stated to be out of danger.

The Waris Khan police have registered a case against her.
