ISLAMABAD: The news report titled “Govt wants to continue supplying 650MW to KE”, published in the Thursday edition of Dawn, incorrectly quoted Water and Power Secretary Muhammad Younas Dagha as saying the authorities wanted to continue supplying 650MW electricity from national grid to the Karachi Electric (KE).

Mr Dagha had in fact stated that the government would review an amended agreement which gave undue favours to the KE in 2008.

He had said the Karachi Electric was receiving 650MW without any legal cover after the agreement expired early this year.

He stated that the KE was not coming to the negotiating table as it seemed to be in a political mode to exploit government weakness instead of being in the professional mode to resolve the issue.

The inadvertent error is regretted.
