LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz held a meeting at Lahore airport regarding the Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Layyah, immediately after his visit to the flood-affected district.

He expressed displeasure over non-posting of staff in the Layyah hospital and non-installation of machinery there, and said the matters would not run in this way in Punjab as he had personally visited the hospital and reviewed the situation there.

He lamented that despite spending tens of millions of rupees there was neither staff nor machinery in the hospital. The staff was getting salaries without doing anything and the funds for medicines were being usurped.

He warned that the officers who did not work or go to field would be removed as the secretaries who did not pay field visits had no justification to stay in Punjab.

The chief minister directed the chief secretary to evolve a plan regarding visits of the secretaries.
