OKARA: Lawyers of Deepalpur observed a strike following Monday’s clash with police that resulted in registration of a case against three of their colleagues and their 10 unidentified accomplices.

According to the first information report, Haveli Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zulfiqar took drug dealer Muhammad Arshad to the tehsil court of Magistrate Ansar Rashid on Monday. Lawyers Majeed Wattoo, Usman Wattoo, Imtiaz Channa and their 10 unidentified accomplices caught the ASI on the court premises and roughed him up for allegedly not giving them a favour in a case in 2013 in which Majeed Wattoo’s brother Saeed was an accused and behind bars since then.

The lawyers and their associates allegedly manhandled the ASI and tore off his uniform.

ASI Zulfiqar on Monday night got a case registered at the Deepalupr police station against the 13 men under sections 365, 353, 511, 379, 186, 148 and 149 of the PPC.
