KARAK: Three persons, including two children, drowned in Karak district on Saturday.

Local people said two children, who were cousins, drowned in a rain-fed pond in Noshpa locality of Bahaderkhel. They said the children were playing near the pond outside their house when they slipped into the water.

Local divers fished out the bodies and shifted them to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.

Iran Badshah, 35, of Rehmatabad area was swept by strong currents while crossing a seasonal water course in Kashu area. The body was found 10 kilometers downstream near Warana.

Meanwhile, torrential rain damaged boundary walls of houses in different areas of the district, but no loss of life was reported.

Local residents said floodwaters entered a graveyard in Latamber area damaging at least 50 graves.

They demanded of the authorities concerned to construct a protection wall around the graveyard to secure it from flooding in future.
