KARACHI, Oct 9: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has castigated the on-going operation in South Waziristan Agency and termed it anti-Mujahideen and a shameful act to appease the Bush government.

MMA Sindh President and MNA Asadullah Bhutto said this while addressing the participants of a protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club on Thursday. The participants were holding banners and placards with slogans against the on-going operation in the tribal areas.

Mr Bhutto said that 140 million people were behind the Mujahideen, but the government was trying to improve the falling image of the US President.

He said that the friends of the US government could not be the friend of the Ummah as the operation was an oppressive and anti-people act which also had been casting aspersions on the prestige and character of Pakistan army.

Mr Bhutto spoke about the killing of Palestinians by Israel and said that the US had closed its eyes against the brutalities of Israel.

Deputy MMA leader in the Sindh Assembly Nasrullah Shaji lamented the arrest of Mujahideen and said the government had, so far, handed 470 Mujahideen to the US.
