ISLAMABAD: The Planning Commission on Tuesday constituted a task force for reforms in the construction industry to focus on private sector-led growth with the onset of a boom expected in the wake of the China-Pak Economic Corridor.

The task force will comprise of high level public sector officials as well as specialists from the private sector. The committee will hold regular meetings at the commission to discuss focal matters, long-term planning, develop policies among several other processes.

Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal will head the committee, which will be taking various initiatives for the revival of construction industry.

Secretary Planning Commission will act as the deputy chairman. The task force will work under the technical guidance of Malik Ahmad Khan, member infrastructure and regional connectivity.

According to the planning commission, the formation of task force will help deal with major problems by regulating the industry and bringing about monitoring and control in the sector. By doing so, the growth rate of the industry is expected to increase on an exponential scale, creating jobs, developing human capital, improving business environment, bringing stability and encouraging small and medium industry stakeholders to partake.
