LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s helicopter on Monday afternoon faced a turbulent flight and landing in Lahore due to gusty winds.

Mr Khan tweeted about the troubled hours after the incident as: “So grateful to Allah for a safe landing of our helicopter”. He also said, “InshAllah, Allah will protect me so I can build Naya Pakistan”.

Mr Khan along with his wife Reham Khan, and party leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen were on board.

After landing in Lahore, Mr Khan went to PTI Lahore district organiser Shafqat Mahmood’s office and extensively spoke about party position on Judicial Commission’s proceedings and intra-party politics.

Later, he also attended Namal University function at a local hotel before Iftar.

Cell phones of PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen were off.

PTI chairman’s political adviser Ejaz Chaudhry expressed his surprise over the tweet and said Mr Khan was with party leaders for over an hour before attending two functions but never spoke of the turbulent flight. He tweeted just after leaving from the two functions.

“I called Mr Khan after the tweet but his cell phone was off,” Ejaz said.
