PM Nawaz meets PML-N delegation from GB

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of PML-N Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) office called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at Prime Minister House today.

The Prime Minister congratulated Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Chaudhry Barjees Tahir for the peaceful Legislative Assembly elections conducted in the area.

Premier Nawaz Sharif said that the GB government must work for promoting harmony across sectarian and political lines and perform functions with transparency based only on merit, as envisioned in the manifesto of the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N).

He said the provision of basic necessities of life to people living in all areas of GB is a priority of the PML-N government. He assured that all the resources of GB shall be spent on the welfare of the people of GB.

Matters relating to formation of the government in GB also came under discussion.

The Prime Minister directed that important matters aimed at providing maximum benefit to the people of the area must be prioritised and implemented with strict timelines. The federal government would provide all necessary help in this regard, he said.

The delegation told the Prime Minister that the people of GB are looking forward to his visit to the area.

They told the Prime Minister that the people of GB are happy over the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which will transform the area by creating job opportunities and bringing prosperity to the people.

Other members of the delegation included Mr. Hafeez ur Rahman, president of PML-N GB; Haji Akbar Taban and Mr. Shams Mir.

The governor of GB, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir; Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Dr. Asif Kirmani; Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mr. Javed Aslam and Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board, Mr Siddiq al Farooq were also present in the meeting.
