PTI couldn’t present proof of rigging, says minister

ISLAMABAD: The federal information minister claimed on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief had taken another ‘U-turn’ before the commission investigating allegations of rigging in the May 2013 general election.
In a statement, Pervaiz Rashid said Imran Khan had requested the inquiry commission to summon returning officers who had performed duties during the elections.
“It is another U-turn of Imran Khan as the PTI had not asked the commission, during its proceedings, to make the ROs witnesses in the inquiry,” he said.

Mr Rashid said writing a letter to the commission showed that Mr Khan had accepted his failure to present credible evidence of rigging.
At a time when the commission was about to complete its job, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had come up with another demand to sow more confusion, he alleged.
“This demand of the PTI is tantamount to creating confusion and hurdles in meeting targets of national development,” he said.
