UN chief criticised for omitting Israel from ‘list of shame’

UNITED NATIONS: Human rights groups have criticised UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for “bowing to pressure from the United States” after the world body decided on Tuesday against inclusion of Israel’s name on the “List of Shame” – a document that names groups and states which violate children’s rights during conflicts.

Rights groups have been urging Mr Ban to put Israel on the list, recalling that bombardment by its forces of Gaza Strip last year took more than 500 children’s lives.

The UN chief’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Leila Zerrougui, had in a report submitted last month accused the Jewish state of “grave crimes against children”.

It's a useless organization and is being used by US and it's allies to bully their adversaries. Small countries should not look towards it for any relief in case of conflicts. Yes, it's gaining popularity in charity work.

Ban Ki-moon was appointed by the US as the Sec.Gen. of the UN. He is getting huge salary and other various perks so he has to do what US want him to do.

Organizations are just made for namesake. At the end of the day, it is the super powers that command what they should do. Clearly, acts by Israel have been disgusting and have been in violation of human rights. It is not like this situation was an if and but situation. There was clear evidence of the nightmarish brutalities.
