LAHORE: A condemned prisoner was executed at Kot Lakhpat Central jail early on Thursday.

Shamsul Haq was convicted of killing Ali Imran, of Manawala, Sheikhupura, in November 1999 and his death warrants were issued on Wednesday after his mercy petition was turned down by the superior judiciary and the president.

Heirs to Ali Imran also rejected his mercy appeal.

The jail authorities in the presence of a magistrate hanged him and later handed over the body to his heirs. — Reporter
