Zimbabwe ‘vindicated’ after Pakistan tour

HARARE: Zimbabwe cricket officials said Tuesday they were vindicated after the national team returned from a high-security tour of Pakistan.
“We went to Pakistan, we are back and we are safe,” Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Wilson Manase told reporters in Harare. “Nothing happened to say our lives were threatened. Our team was never in any danger. We are vindicated.”
There were doubts whether the five-match tour would go ahead after the massacre of 45 minority Shias in an early May attack on a bus in Karachi.
It was the first visit by a Test-level team since seven Sri Lankan cricketers were wounded during a 2009 attack by militants in Lahore.
Following the attack, teams refused to tour Pakistan, who were forced to stage 'home' series in the United Arab Emirates.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) did not send neutral umpires for the Zimbabwe series, citing security concerns, and Pakistani officials were used.
Pakistan won both Twenty20 internationals and two One-Day Internationals with the third abandoned due to rain.

We are extremely thankful to Zimbabwe. I hope it would make a good impact on other cricketing nations. I know currently we are in a critical situation but others have security issues as well. No place is 100% safe and sound. Its time to support us. We are a peace loving nation.

Although Zimbabwe did not win any match in their current tour but they won heart of Pakistan and would say that the series was won by Zimbabwe.

This will be remembered, friends in need are friends in deed. Those nations that voice so much hue and cry on terrorism should not have given in to the terrorists an easy win by walking off.
Terrorism did not stop Sri Lanka cricket and there still a low level insurgency in India (Maoists) in several states but rightly did not interrupt cricket or anything else. There was not anything particularly or specifically against Sri Lankan cricket team that they were attached, terrorists would take any easy target.

They got the money as per the contract however the most important thing they got was loads of love and appreciation from people of Pakistan. The world we live in is ever changing, few years ago Sri Lanka was facing the same isolation and Pakistan helped them in that time of isolation We are going through the same phase and Zimbabwe have came to help end this isolation. Few years later, the ones who are contributing to our isolation may face the isolation, who knows!

@M. Emad Everything is not measured in money...I know Indians are crazy about it, but there are these things, friendship, brotherhood, respect, helping people in need(read nations), taking a principled stand, not bucking under pressure, so on and so forth...
Good that Zimbabwe proved that all things correct...money is not everything.

Being realistic, I don't think Zimbabwe tour is going to change perception in a big way. The tour had unprecedented security measures which is difficult to achieve all the time.

Bangladesh Cricket team { both male and woman team} should visit Pakistan. It will be enormous experiences for both teams to gain from a big experienced team like Pakistan. If Pakistan can provide the same security they have provided to Zimbabwe, then Bangladesh teams should go there and play good cricket.

Not safe enough still for teams. It will be foolish to invite another team. It will be extremely stupid if another team decides to visit us. Fix the situation in the country before moving forward with international cricket at home. Remember, this is a luxury, not a necessity

@FACT I live in US and in cricketing context, I strongly believe its safe to play in places like Lahore, Pindi, Multan, Faisalabad, etc. I recently visited major cities including Karachi and generally speaking it's much safer than the perception from outside.
