ISLAMABAD: The executive council of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has approved the appointment of Dr Mohammad Naeem Qureshi as registrar.

According to the AIOU spokesman, the new registrar, who will serve for three years, is expected to take charge on Monday.

He will replace Prof Dr Nowshad Khan, chairman department of agriculture sciences, who had been holding the additional charge of registrar for the last several years.

Earlier, Dr Naeem Qureshi had been working as registrar Azad Kashmir University.

Having almost 32 years of experience as an academician and administrator, Dr Qureshi had already served other leading institutions like Lahore University of Management Sciences (Lums).

The executive council, which met under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui, decided that key positions in the university should be filled by the regular staff on full-time basis.

The council also directed the AIOU to replace other additional charge holders such as director, printing production unit, director regional services and treasurer of the university.
