I HAVE been living in the red zone of Peshawar for about eight years. And all that time newspapers were delivered on time. But for the last few days newspapers have delivered quite late or sometimes I don’t get them.

The reason is that hawkers are not allowed to pass through the security checkpoints. In our neighbourhood some children are very keen readers. They can also benefit from newspapers. Their knowledge and vocabulary will also increase and will develop reading habit.

I would like to request the Corps Commander, Peshawar, to ask soldiers at checkpoints to allow hawkers to deliver newspapers to residents in the red zone.
