PESHAWAR: The contractual employees of Public Safety and Police Complaints Commission (PSPCC) have expressed concern over non-payment of salaries for two months and non-regularisation of their services.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Noor-ul-Haq, a representative of PSPCC employees’ association, said that they had been serving on different posts in the commission since its inception in 2001 but they were yet to get service structure.

We have played pivotal role in establishment of the safety commission and helping implement the government plan in letter and spirit, but the successive governments have never paid us proper attention,” he lamented.

The provincial government, said Mr Haq had stopped paying them salaries for the past two months which had caused them serious financial constraints because they had no other source of income.

Mr Haq said the provincial government had regularised services of thousands of employees of other departments like health, local government, workers welfare board, Rescue 1122, and education, but those working in the safety commission were totally ignored.

“The step-motherly treatment on part of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf led provincial government clearly shows that no good can be expected from the PTI and its ministers,” he said and added that the people had voted the party to power for its slogan of justice and change, but to no avail.

On the occasion, general secretary of the employees’ association, Akhtar Rasool, said that they had spent prime part of their life for strengthening the commission, and now when they had got over-age the government was considering to lay them off. He demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to order payment of salaries and regularisation of their services.
