LAHORE: The authorities on Tuesday temporarily suspended the metro bus service following lawyers’ violent protest against the killing of their colleagues in Daska.

The service was suspended partially from the MAO College to Shahdara by the Punjab Metro Bus Authority (PMBA) after it was informed by police about the violent protesters heading towards some bus stations.

“We kept the operation closed for an hour on the aforementioned stretch of the route after we were told that the protesters may enter the Shahdara bus station,” PMBA General Manager (Operations) Syed Uzair Shah told Dawn.

He said the authority might think of suspending the bus operation even on Wednesday (today) in case of any sort of critical situation.

BEGGARS: The CDGL captured 16 beggars from various parts of the city and shifted them to Edhi and Subhani centres for their rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, various price control magistrates had 22 shopkeepers arrested for overcharging.

On the other hand, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) promoted 15 officials to BPS-17. A majority of them consisted of staff officers and private secretaries working in BPS-16.
