KARACHI: Lt Cdr Saeed Khattaq and Mrs Humair Khalid won the amateur gross and ladies titles respectively in the inaugural Suzuki Amateur Golf Tournament here at the Arabian Sea Country Club on Sunday.

Overall 85 golfers featured in the entire tournament. Khattaq of Karachi Golf Club produced fine driving, chipping and putting to lead the pack of 23 golfers at the picturesque golf course. Bilal Nasim and Khattaq at one point were tied with a total of 78 in the gross event.

However Lt Cdr Khattaq won the title after scoring 38 at the back nine, thanks to a brilliant birdie at hole number 14. Zubair Rasheed enjoying the handicap of 16 clinched the Amateur Net crown with an aggregate of 67.

In the ladies competition Mrs Humair Khalid emerged on top of leader board with a total of 80 while Mrs Naghmana Atif finished as runner-up and Ms Anum Zehra got third position.

Junaid Irfan won the junior contest with Luca Gaudi finishing as the runner-up.

Managing director Suzuki Motor Company Hirofumi Nagao was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the trophies and prizes. Chief executive ASCC Arif Ali Khan Abbasi and other officials were also present on the occasion.
