ISLAMABAD: The government has imposed a ban on the use of wooden packaging material for exporting perishables with effect from May 20, 2015.
Through a notification, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research has warned that no official certificate will be issued to any perishable including fruits and vegetables in wooden packaging for export.
It says as a phytosanitary measure under guidelines of the Department of Plant Protection is to give effect to the International Plant Protection Convention 1951 in Pakistan.
