Abdul Wali Khan University qualify for regional final

ISLAMABAD: Abdul Wali Khan University of Nowshera reached the North region final of the Red Bull Campus Cricket after a narrow win against Abbottabad’s Hazara University here at the Comsats Ground.

Batting first, Hazara University were bundled out for mere 92 in 17 overs with opener Ehtisham top-scoring with a 44-ball 52 that included four sixes.

Bilal was the tormenter-in-chief taking four wickets while Hassan took three as the innings subsided limply despite the impetus provided by Ehtisham.

The target was chased down after some hiccups by the Abdul Wali Khan University outfit. Hamza scored 33-runs while Nasir chipped in with 16 while Fayyaz and Mahroz claimed two wickets each for Hazara University.

Meanwhile, University of Central Punjab whipped Superior College Gujranwala by eight wickets in another regional semi-final played at the Ali Garh Ground in Lahore.

The Superior College batting line-up was blown away for 69 after they were put in to bat. As many as four batsmen ran themselves out while Ali Tipu took three wickets before the University of Punjab chased the target in 11.3 overs.
