DHAKA: Bangladesh speedster Rubel Hossain has been ruled out of the second and final Test against Pakistan after suffering a Grade I side strain.

Hossain, who felt discomfort during the fourth day of the first Test of the series in Khulna, subsequently underwent a scan on Monday in Dhaka which confirmed the injury.

National Team physio Bayjedul Islam said: “The results confirmed a Grade 1 left side strain. It takes about three to four weeks to recover from such injuries. He (Hossain) will begin his rehab in the next couple of days.”

Abul Hasan has been called up to replace Hossain in the Bangladesh squad for the second Test starting on May 6 in Mirpur.

The first Test at Khulna, which ended in a draw, saw Bangladesh break some records.

The drawn result has extended Pakistan’s winless streak in Bangladesh on the current tour. They were hammered 3-0 in the ODIs and lost the one-off T20 as well. Misbah-ul-Haq and his men will be hoping to end their tour on a high with a win in Mirpur.

Squad:

Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Litton Das, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (c), Mahmudullah, Shuvagata Hom, Soumya Sarkar, Taijul Islam, Jubair Hossain, Abul Hasan, Shahadat Hossain, Mohammad Shahid.
