KARACHI: Unknown pedigree bay colt Amazing Power stumbled and was later destroyed as rider Zohaib Qamar fell from his mount in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Officials said Amazing Power was not in a racing-fit condition but its owner Mohammad Qasim nevertheless opted to enter it in the second race alongside 10 other contenders. After taking the start he stumbled forcing the rider to fell at one furlong. The horse that became lame was destroyed after the race, while Zohaib fractured his collarbone as a result of the fall he took.

Following the tragedy, second favourite three-year-old bay colt Revolutionary delighted the horse-racing fraternity by registering his maiden victory on the course in the second run. He beat first favourite bay colt Cigar by six lengths besides denying him a third straight triumph.

Shahzad Love was placed third four lengths away while Tiggy Wiggy completed the frame finishing further three lengths behind.

At the outset, 60 to 100 favourite bay filly Rubai obliged all and sundry by imposing to a two-and-a-half lengths victory over filly Sonia Again to complete a hat-trick in same scale order. Risky Business and Thanaydar seized third and fourth positions on the board among nine starters.

Public fancy colt King’s Man repeated his winning run when he overtook front running colt Kick in straight to post five-and-a-half lengths victory in the third race.

Lava Man had to be content with third place eight lengths behind pushing Zahrat Dubai to fourth a length-and-a-quarter away.

Tactful riding by rider Asad Aksir helped second favourite six-year-old mare Jahalwan Love to land the fourth race in style. Running on the heels of favourite Gold horse Jahalwan Love kicked up his speed before edging front runner by two lengths and-a-half. Snow Fairy occupied third place ahead of Jahalwan Blue. Arsenal was withdrawn before the race.
