PESHAWAR: Students representing various political groups in Peshawar University have expressed concern over the increase in different kinds of fee and demanded of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan to take notice of the ‘injustices’ with them by the varsity administration.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, the students said that the make-up fee (in semester system) had been increased by 40 per cent which they couldn’t pay.

Akhtar Iqbal of Pakhtun Students Federation, Riaz Yousufzai of People’s Students Federation, Hafeez-ur-Rehman of Insaf Students Federation, Shehzad Ali of Chitral Students Society, Siraj Afridi of Khyber Afridi Society, Ziaullah Khan of Dir, Tauqeer-ur-Rehman of Swat and Nisar of Bajaur Students Societies spoke on the occasion.

They said the fee for papers’ make-up was increased abruptly and the poor students were unable to pay it.

“We have time and again requested the university administration to withdraw the decision of increase in fee but to no avail,” lamented a student, warning that in case their demands were not met the students would launch protest campaign. They warned of locking the vice chancellor’s office and observing a sit-in there till acceptance of their demands.
