TOBA TEK SINGH: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said the issues regarding registration of religious seminaries are moving towards a positive solution through talks with the government.

Talking to reporters at Darul Uloom Rabbania, Philour, here on Wednesday, he claimed discriminatory sections had been included in the Constitution through the 21st Amendment that targeted specific religious schools of thought.

He said some institutions were creating misunderstanding between his party and the government by harassing their activists.

On the Saudi-Yemen issue, Fazl claimed the entire nation, parliament and all political parties had the same point of view on the issue and were united that Pakistan should stand with Saudi Arabia in case of any trouble it faced.

He further said resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNAs should have been accepted when the speaker received them, while the lawmakers’ return was “unconstitutional” and had been termed illegal by the Pakistan Bar Council. He condemned the PTI’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for “disappearing” in the wake of the harsh weather that hit their province.

LOADSHEDDING: Power supply remained suspended in more than half of the city for 11 hours without prior information on Wednesday.

The supply was suspended at 9am and restored at 8pm.

An official of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) claimed a pole was being replaced on Shorkot Road in the grain market feeder that had caused the hours-long suspension.

Citizens demanded the Fesco chief executive take notice.
