MQM wants to work with all political parties, says Altaf

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday invited all political parties in the country, including the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), to work together for serving the country.

Addressing supporters in Karachi's Jinnah ground via telephone, the MQM supremo congratulated them for the victory of the party's candidate in the by elections held in NA-246 constituency on April 23.

The MQM chief criticised the slow voting process during the April 23 by-polls and said that voters' plights and concerns were ignored as a result of which 50 per cent people remained in lines at the time polling came to a close.

He said that the workers had exhibited courage despite of the hindrances in their way and that the 'people's court' had rejected all the allegations against the MQM. He claimed that the MQM would have managed to bag more than 250,000 votes had the poll timings been extended.

Altaf Hussain said he was ready to fight side by side with the army and asked "the establishment to end its 'unjustified war' and accept the MQM as a respectable party."

He once again reiterated his call for the creation of new provinces in the country, including Karachi as a separate province.

And to add to my earlier comment, the establishment must understand that getting rid of Altaf Hussain won't make things better. The situation may even get worse if command of MQM gets scattered.

I am critique of MQM but I believe all political parties and their workers live Pakistan we should trust all and work together to uplift Pskistan and buried the conspiracies theories that some are anti state. Respect all Pakistanis equally. And creation of more provinces is need of time and it is only possible by trusting each others.

Urdu speaking had a very good run since 1947 with grip on media, govt but MQM has exposed the community and created ill will towards them...Only Altaf has gained power.

There are no Pakstani Mohajirs in Pakistan now. All those Mohajirs are either old or have left this world. Every immigrant from India at the time of partition whether they are from UP or from Maharashtra or Gujrat (people like Farooq Sattar) are Urdu speakers. Now nobody is Mohajir but we are all Pakistanis.

I am not MQM supporter or any love for MR. Altaf. Since partition Pakistan's Population has been increased. Pakistan must Must have 16 provinces, for better administration and progress. But our politicians have selfish agenda.

@Safwan For your Info MQM has been cooperating with Scotland Yard. Scotland Yard is an independent agency they are following their investigating proceedure and does not need your interference or advise.

@Awais Ali MQM has always worked with all political parties and even with military rulers. Even if PTI ever get a chance to get closer to a position where it needs votes to make Imran Khan PM and if IK visits Nine Zero like PML N and PPP did , MQM will help them as MQM is the political force that can make or mars the governments.

@Qamar Muhajir is a term used for those who are neither Sindhi speaking nor Punjabi speaking ,not Pushtu speaking or Baluchi speaking people living in Sindh. These people parents or they themselves migrated to Pakistan after partition. These people were often called as Muhajir or Mukkar by Sindhis and Hisdustani by Punjabis. So these people have decided to take the name of Muhajir as given by the host Sindhis. They have been living in mostly Sindh and the 2nd and 3rd generation of these people are now making the majority of the Urban Sindh. These people were always barred from becoming a real resident of the province , though they make majority of the cities in Sindh but always been discouraged and alienated from the running affairs of the province and even of the cities . Since the worst kind of feudal syatem in intact in the province which ultimately does not like the participation of the common .

@Akil Akhtar You call yourself Punjabi no problem, he calls himself Sindhi no problem then if they call themselves Muhajir then why you have a problem. Anything within and under Pakistani should be Ok and I dont see any problem even I called myself a Pathan but Pakistani first.
