BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab government has approved a building project for the establishment a museum conservation laboratory on the premises of the local museum costing about Rs15 million.
It is learnt that the provincial planning and development department had decided to include the project in the budget of next financial year.
Museum director Hussain Ahmed Madni has expressed the hope that antiques and other historic monuments would be preserved through scientific means with the establishment of a museum laboratory.
ELECTIONS: The stage is set to hold polling on Saturday (today) for the election of three members of Bahawalpur Cantonment Board.
Returning officer Shahid Iqbal said that 16 candidates of the PML-N, PTI, PPP, JUI-F and independents were in the run for three seats.
Around 19,000 voters would exercise their right of vote at 16 polling stations set up in government buildings in three wards.
DPO Sarfraz Ahmed Falki said the district police had taken strict security measures and would deploy at least 820 police personnel at 16 polling stations.
