LAHORE: Eleven convicts were executed in different prisons of Punjab on Tuesday.

At Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail, two death-row prisoners were hanged, reports APP.

According to jail sources, Allah Rakha and Ghulam Nabi were hanged after fulfilling medical and legal requirements. Allah Rakha had killed Tufail, of Faisalabad, in 1996 while Ghulam Nabi was sent to gallows for killing Mukhtar Ahmed Butt of Lahore.

Two more prisoners including the murderer of Seth Abid’s son will be executed at the Kot Lakhpat Jail on Wednesday (today). Rizwan, the security guard of a private agency, had killed Seth Hafiz Ayaz Ahmad in 2006.

FAISALABAD: Three death-row prisoners were hanged at Faisalabad’s central and district jails.

Mohammad Azam was convicted in seven murder cases of his in-laws and was hanged in the District Jail. He had gunned down his in-laws in December 2004 after he failed to bring his estranged wife back home.

Nizam Din had gunned down his two rivals and a passerby woman in People’s Colony in 1998. He was executed on Tuesday as was Mohammad Husain who had killed three people including two brothers in 1998.

SIALKOT: Two rapists were hanged in the District Jail.

Nauman and Saleem were hanged for raping 16-year-old ‘F’ on May 6, 1999, at Pasrur’s Qila Kalarwala village. The Anti-Terrorism Court had issued their black warrants after rejection of their appeals by the Supreme Court and the president.

Two more rapists will be hanged in the jail on Wednesday (today). Abid Maqsood and Sanaullah of Begowala had raped 15-year-old ‘T’ on Aug 29, 1997.

GUJRANWALA: Three condemned prisoners were hanged in the Central Jail.

The jail authorities handed over the bodies to their family members after completing formalities.

Jail Superintendent Kamran Anjum said Zafarullah, Latif Mehdi and Inayatullah were handed down death sentence by the sessions court and the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court upheld the decision.

SAHIWAL: A murder convict was hanged while execution of others were delayed till April 25 in the Central Jail.

Jail Superintendent Gulzar Butt said Liaquat Ali, of Qabola, Pakpattan, was hanged at 5:30am. He had killed his uncle Bilal in 1998. His death warrants were issued by the district and sessions judge of Pakpattan.

Iftikhar’s death warrant also had been issued for April 21 but his execution was delayed at the last moment. He had killed a woman in Chichawatni in 2000.

Jail sources say an agreement has been reached between the convict and the complainants. The judge suspended the execution till April 25.
