LAHORE: Training of another 450 unskilled youth in nine trades has begun at the institutes of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme.

“Candidates with middle certificate and not more than 25 years of age have been admitted to these courses being held in collaboration with NAVTTC,” said Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh at a meeting here on Monday.

Every trainee would get a monthly stipend of Rs2,000 for the six-month courses in motor winding, general electrician, electrician, CCA, HVACR, tailoring and dress making, machinist, Auto CAD and welder.

“The courses are being held at the Government Technical Training Institute, Sargodha, Government Technical Training Centre, Kanganpur, Government Technical Training Centre, Dinga, Government Vocational Training Institute (Women), Abad Dera Ghazi Khan, Government Technical Training Institute, Kamalia and the Centre for Agricultural Machinery and Industries, Mian Channu,” said Mr Sheikh.

Under Phase-I of the programme, Tevta had already trained more than 4,600 students, said the Tevta chairperson.
