KARACHI: Eight members of a family were killed and three injured when their van collided with a dumper truck in Swat Colony of Baldia area on Sunday night.

The family from Neelum Colony in Clifton area had gone to Hub Dam for a picnic. They were returning home when their van collided with the truck, said Baldia SP Ejaz Hashmi.

Four women and a boy died on the spot and five children and a man were injured. The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital where the man and two of the children died. The condition of another child was said to be critical.

Police have arrested the driver and impounded the dumper truck.
