KARACHI: Indian allegations that the Nagas were returning home with arms and military training in Pakistan, have an ominous ring about them.

They only indicate that the Indian Government has succumbed to the pressure of a section of the Lok Sabha which believes in subduing the Nagas by force against their demand for independence. A section of the Armed Forces, in charge of operations in Nagaland, not happy with the Indian policy of “appeasement” of Nagas, also feels the same way.

Lately, both the Indian Press and radio have been accusing Pakistan of helping the Nagas with arms and military training in their fight against India. This has been officially denied here but India is whipping up its campaign only to find an excuse to mount offensive once again against the Nagas.

It is interesting to note that Mr. Minoo Masani, who led a peace mission to Nagaland, writing in the “Times of India” has admitted that no firing has taken place in Nagaland after the cease-fire.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Jakarta] President Soekarno told 100,000 Indonesians today [April 19] that the Asian and African peoples could face the entire “colonialist and imperialist” arsenal of modern weapons without fear.

President Soekarno also announced that a conference of “New Emerging Forces” (CONEFO) would be held in Jakarta next year. President Soekarno said he was convinced that the second Afro-Asian Conference, in Algiers as well as the proposed conference of all “New Emerging Forces” will become a “sound success.”
