HYDERABAD: The Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party (STP) on Friday kicked off a Sindh-wide campaign against moves to settle outsiders in Sindh, usurpation of the province’s resources and denial of the national language status to Sindhi.
Led by STP secretary general Dr Abdul Hameed Memon, a group of party activists observed a token hunger strike outside the local press club and raised slogans in support of their demands.
The STP has announced that it will observe 2015 as the year of struggle to raise these issues. It believes that outsiders are being settled in Sindh to convert Sindhis into a minority in their own province and Zulfikarabad and Bahria Town projects are being executed to achieve that objective. The party says it has long been struggling to stop usurpation of Sindh’s resources.
SUKKUR: STP activists took out a rally from its Jacobabad office and held a demonstration and sit-in outside the DC Office roundabout on Friday. A group of activists also observed a token hunger strike in line with the party’s campaign.
STP central leader Ghulam Hussain Khoso, district chief Mir Haroon-ur-Rasheed Soomro and others spoke to the participants.
