GUJRAT: Three people, including two brothers, were gunned down allegedly by a drunkard at Chak Gill in Kunjah police precincts on Monday night.

According to police, suspect Liaqat and his friends Ashraf and Shakeel were drinking at a house in the village. The suspect got drunk, pulled out a pistol and opened fire, injuring his two friends.

Meanwhile, Ashraf’s brother Mushtaq and another man, Bilal, arrived at the house alarmed by gunshots. The suspect again resorted to firing, killing them both on the spot.

Critically injured Ashraf also succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital to where he was shifted.

Soon after the incident, police were called and they cordoned off the area where Liaqat had been hiding in the fields. He was arrested after putting up a brief resistance.

According to the police, a brother of Liaqat was also a fugitive in a triple-murder case registered five years ago with Kunjah police station.

The bodies were handed over to the relatives of the murdered people after their autopsies conducted at the hospital.

Police registered a case against the suspect under sections 324 and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Ashraf Gondal, an uncle of Bilal.
