KASUR: A celebratory fire claimed two lives here on Wednesday at Gatti Kalanger village in Ganda Singh police precincts.

Reports said a guest, Bashir, at the wedding ceremony of Sardar Arif Dogar resorted to aerial firing under the influence, killing Shamshad, 9, and Waseem, 8, on the spot. The suspect managed his escape.

The bodies have been shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy. Police are looking into the matter.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY: Literature reflects true colours of life while autobiographies preserve the trends and attitudes of a society.

These views were expressed by speakers at the launch of retired army man Abdul Aziz Saleemi’s autobiography ‘Israr-e-Raaz’ here on Wednesday.

Local literary figures, teachers and students attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Riaz Anjum, Tufail Sarwar Baloch, Yaseen Zaigham and Abid Ali Sikandar termed the book a valuable addition to the corpus of autobiographies.

The speakers, however, lamented that with the advancement of information technology the trend of book reading was on the decline.

Author Saleemi urged the students to adopt the habit of book reading and visit libraries in the town.
