PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has arrested TB Association president Dr Iqbal Safi, senior vice-president Riaz Ahmed, Shahzad Zahoor advocate and property dealer Fakhruddin for their alleged involvement in illegal sale of plots allotted to the TB Association.

The NAB said in a statement issued here on Thursday that the plots had been sold in violation of the formalities, resulting in huge loss to the government exchequer.

“During the course of investigation it came to fore that one plot measuring four kanals and five marlas and another of five kanals and eight marlas were allotted to the TB Association on concessional rates.

The plots were allotted to the association on the condition that the property would not be put to any use other than that for which its transfer had been sanctioned. One plot was supposed to be used as clinic and the other to be allotted for rehabilitation of TB patients. However, the accused(s) utilised one plot for the clinic and built vocational centre/ marriage hall on the other plot in violation of rules. Later, one plot was sold illegally by the TB Association.
