LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday sought more arguments from the defence and prosecution on an appeal against the sentence moved by a suspect of abetting a suicide attack at Naval War College, Upper Mall Lahore.

Nadeem Husain was convicted by an anti-terrorism court on charges of aiding the suicide attacker, who had exploded himself outside the Naval War College on March 4, 2008. At least four navy officials were killed in the attack.

The appellant’s counsel argued that the trial court sentenced his client life imprisonment on the basis of insufficient evidences.

However, prosecution counsel Khurram Khan stated that police gathered ample proofs against the convict.

He said the convict had rendered logistic support to the suicide attacker and asked the court to dismiss the appeal.

The bench adjourned the hearing till March 10 and directed both sides to come up with final arguments.
