‘Foreigners visit improves Karachi image’

KARACHI: The visits from delegates of various countries must have helped in clarifying many “delusions” projected by the media about peace and security of Karachi, Businessmen Group chairman and former president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Siraj Kassam Teli said on Saturday.

Speaking at a dinner reception hosted in honour of foreign delegates attending Expo Pakistan 2015, he said the city, which is the economic and industrial hub of Pakistan, can be compared with any developed city of the world.

CIMA Global Business Challenge 2015

KARACHI: The deadline for entering the CIMA Global Business Challenge 2015, an international business competition, is nearing as the last date for registration is March 5, said a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants’ press release on Saturday.

“Entrants must form a team of four people to compete. Acting as business consultants, they will analyse and solve a real-life business case study. Competitors will have a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Warsaw, Poland, to represent their country at the global final,” it said.

Amir Jafri to head South Asia for Arysta

KARACHI: Arysta LifeScience, previously owned by Permira Funds, has been acquired by Platform Specialty Products Corporation, a global diversified specialty chemicals company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In the new set up, Pakistan will be part of the South Asia Region that also includes Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines. Dr Amir Jafri has been appointed as the regional head. He was previously looking after Arysta’s businesses in Pakistan and Indonesia.

Zubair Motiwala elected president PAJCCI

KARACHI: Zubair Motiwala has been elected unopposed president of Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) for the year 2014-15, said a press release on Saturday.

Zahidullah Shinwari and Haji Hameedullah were also elected unanimously senior vice-president and vice-president, respectively.
