KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has directed car showroom owners to remove their vehicles from New M. A. Jinnah Road, Khalid bin Walid Road, etc, within three days or stern action, including seizure of vehicles, will be taken against them.

A statement issued by the KMC on Thursday said that a large number of vehicles belonging to car showrooms remained parked on these thoroughfares creating congestion and traffic problems.

They were given a 72-hour notice to remove their vehicles otherwise the civic agency would confiscate their vehicles and impose heavy fines on owners under the anti-encroachment laws, the statement said.

It added that showrooms had no right to grab roads and pavements and carry out their business on roads and pavements.

The KMC also directed builders to remove construction material, debris, etc, which remained scattered on roads near their construction sites, or stern action would be taken against them.

Hoarding removed

The civic agency also removed 135 illegal hoardings on Khayaban-i-Saadi, Khayaban-i-Roomi, Khayaban-i-Iqbal, Shahrah-i-Quaideen and University Road, the statement added.
