The madressah factor

Published February 24, 2015

APROPOS “The Madressah factor (Feb 22). I partially agree with the writter that reforms must be made by the state in madressahs. It is also true that many of these seminaries pose serious challenges to society.

I request the writer to name such madressahs in a future column. Being a security analyst, he should be able to provide detailed information.

I also ask the government to make a policy to deal with the madressah issue. Unfortunately our governments are often reluctant to make and implement policies due to their political agenda.

The interior minister had said before launching the National Action Plan that only 10 per cent madrassahs are involved in sectarian violence and terrorism. I hope the honourable minister will disclose the names of the offenders.
