Laura Spaulding, a former Kansas City police officer, was inspired to start a business by the sight of illegal methamphetamine labs that were left intact when meth-makers were hauled off to jail. Seeing a ‘recession-proof’ need, she opened a company in Florida offering to clean up busted meth labs. Although she cleans other types of crime scenes, as well as homes inhabited by hoarders, a third of her business still consists of meth sites; she handles more than 300 annually and is thinking of franchising the business, says The Wall Street Journal.
