Dr Shahid laid to rest in Chakwal

CHAKWAL: Renowned cardiologist Professor Dr Shahid Nawaz Malik was laid to rest in his native village Bochal Khurd in tehsil Kallar Kahar of Chakwal district on Saturday evening.

Thousands of people including Federal Minister Usman Ibrahim, provincial minister Malik Tanvir Aslam Awan, MNA Tahir Iqbal, MPA Chaudhry Liaquat Ali, former federal minister retired Lt-Gen Abdul Majeed Malik, retired Lt-Gen Abdul Qayum, Dr Asad Ilyas, the head of cardiology department at Pakistan Medical Institute of Sciences (Pims), and many other notables attended the funeral.

Dr Shahid Nawaz Malik, who was head of the cardiology department, was shot in the head by an unknown attacker on February 14.

After battling for his life for a week he died on Friday.
