Zardari for women antiterrorism force

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari has directed the Sindh government to initiate steps to set up a counterterrorism force and a women antiterrorism force in the province.

The PPP chief issued these directives while presiding over a meeting on law and order held in Bilawal House on Friday.

The participants in the meeting — which was attended by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, were MNA Faryal Talpur, Local Bodies Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh chief secretary, the IG Police and the Sindh advocate general — reviewed law and order, political situation and other related matters.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari, who was briefed on steps being taken in these matters by the Sindh government, stressed the need for establishing a counterterrorism force in Sindh and also a women antiterrorism force to meet the challenge of terrorism.

Zardari doesnt understand that counter by force is a two way street. What is the idea of a specific woman's counter terrorism force?? the best counter terrorism is to build up an environment in every corner of Pakistan that is conducive for womens education. Every educated woman will be able to counter the radical mullahs by teaching her own children the correct interpretations of the Qoran, for instance, while also inspiring them to follow a path of righteousness without the corrosive ideology spread by clerics. The results will be seen only after a generation but atleast there will be a beginning. Otherwise there will never be peace in Pakistan for generations to come. After all the Pen is mightier than the Sword.

@Datta I really think it is too late for your proposal. I get the feeling that the rangers are tired of taking it on the chin, and the PM and the General have already decided. Wouldn't the training of this force be a clue? How can policemen search women for drugs? Kill the sons and the husband first?

Such suggestions will be worthy of consideration only when we are able to provide security to female health workers out on the streets to combat polio.Really at times feel sorry for my country and the people who have lost all sense of urgency in governing it strategically. What has been done to probe the infant mortality in Thar last year? What has been done not to repeat such tragedies in Sind atleast for a couple of years, if never....uffff! These leaders and their rhetoric is eternal!

Have we fallen short of rugged brave men to fight ruthlessly barbaric terrorists on the streets that we have to call upon our women to protect us physically? Women can play an important adjuvant role in the logistic wings of armed forces but to expect them to take up guns against the hardcore militants is not a realistic approach, and not very macho. Such a suggestion coming from the person of Asif Zardari sounds like a feeble attempt to get noticed. If you are really serious, get militant wings from all the political parties, who are well trained and in a constant combat mode, together, and use them as a force to fight terror.

Why don't we have 1 force which has man and women in it. What's with the separation, they don't think about things. Let's show the world a modern islamic state where we don't hide our women like Saudi arabia.
